This year Ave had a pig in the county fair. If you would have told me when I was younger that my kids would show pigs in the county fair there is no way I would have believed you.....but it's true! She was very dedicated, her and her best friend Livvy walked their pigs pretty much everyday
(except Sunday), they also checked if they had food, made sure they had water to drink, and that they had mud to roll in. Wednesday August10 we took the pigs over to Monticello to weigh them in. Aves pig weighed in at 284 pounds. On Thursday they showed their pigs to the judges, and on Saturday they sold their pigs. Ave did awesome and got $4.50 a pound. She can't wait to do it again next year, except for the part of saying goodbye. She loved her pig Phyllis ( they named them after grandparents that they LOVE....Phyllis is Aves great grandma) and she cried and cried when she had to say goodbye. On Saturday night Ave and Jake did some mutton bustin. I am a loser because I didn't take any pictures but they did so good! Ave got third place and won $40 and Jake was a little mad because he didn't win any money but he was happy that he got a ribbon.

You can make some good money raising a selling a pig. I think that sounds like a lot of fun. I wish I had room a place to raise one myself.
