A day on the beach

So the last few days of our trip Tricia was able to get us into her timeshare which was fabulous because we were all tired of sleeping in the camping van:) It was in a town called Rotorua in New Zealand that is a big tourist destination because of the underground therrmal hot springs. It was pretty amazing! Therr were the most beautiful lakes everywhere and on our first day there we decided to jump in the camping van to go to the coast which was like 45 minutes away. On our way to the coast we passed through the kiwi capitol of the world. It was really neat to see how kiwis grow and maybe thats another reason people from New Zealand are called kiwis....They had green kiwis and then some yellow kiwis that they call golden kiwis. I thought this was interesting since I had never seen golden kiwis and I do love kiwis. They seemed to be not as acidic as the green ones and maybe a little sweeter. We got to the beach and it was a little rainy but it cleared up a little and was a good day to walk around the beach. Some friends of my parents told us that this beach was an Awesome place to find shells and it was. We found whole shells all over the place!

These hedges are every where in New Zealand because they have SO many birds they have to protect their crops.

It is cool because kiwis come from these. They grow up like trees but then go out into vines. It was pretty cool to see.

This is a lake that was right by our hotel and it was amazing! It had a story about a tribe that lived out on that island who didn't get along with the tribe that lived on the main land and how a boy and a girl fell in love and the girl swam out to the island in the middle of the night so she could see her boy. That is not a little swim either:)
